Ordered a few things from Bike24 in Germany never a problem with either the shop or delivery. Ordered some Sidi's last week that have been dispatched by DHL. The online tracking says the shipment is being held at Gatwick and its been there for 24 hours.

Anyone any idea what the problem could be? Most obvious is customs but didn't think you got charged anything as Germany is in the EU

You shouldn't pay any import (customs) duty on goods sold from within the EU. Not sure why it's stuck at Gatwick though, probably at the parcel post depot where it should be checked by UKBA to see if it's a prohibited or restricted item.

No duty from EU as it has already been paid as part of the sale price.

No tax due, but the sitting in customs status can last a week.
