I've got a day off work tomorrow and as the weather looks good I was thinking of doing the Imber Perimeter route :

Looking at the MOD website, tomorrow (Friday) is a live firing day.
There's various (apparently conflicting) information that says it stays open even if there's live firing on, but also bits of it may be shut, don't pass red flags etc.
Is there anyone with local knowledge who can confirm if that route would be rideable even if they are on exercise tomorrow?

I've done it. IÂ think it's not subject to red flags.

There is a large exercise on at the moment. I think on the perimeter path you're ok, it's when you start to stray off route you may find tings a little more exciting.
I think (sorry, I know that's not helpful) that they can close off whatever they need to at any time. So even routes and legal Byways that are not subject to red flags, can still be shut if they're doing something special.
I'd still do it, and if part was closed, use a road secion to get back on further around.
Thanks for the feedback. The various websites seem to suggest it's not subject to flags, but may be closed if there's a big exercise on - but I can't find any source to say if it's open or not.. 🙂
To those that have done it - is it worth it? It's prob a 45 min drive to get there for me, so if it's a bit crap anyway I'll probably look for something else to do. Given the extra day off work I thought a change of scenery would be nice 🙂
It is a lovely part of the world, probably not the most exciting riding all the way through but typically epic.
Watch out for the tanks.... we were down there last summer and have never seen so many of them crashing around...

Thinking of doing it again this weekend.
The weather didn't look that great for the day, so I ended up doing a local ride on the day..
