I'm running a set of saint cranks, bash on the outside and just middle ring on my bike . I would like to change my middle ring as its a bit worn, preferably with a chromag one from crc. It is described as being for single speed use, so does that mean its not a middle ring but will only fit where I have my bash ? Thanks for any replies , even taking the p ones !
dont know saint per see but SS means the ring will have no pins and ramps for gear changing purposes so this is what you want [ you could use a middle if you want it wont matter]
You just need a ring of the same BCD size as currently used which is 104 standard for shimano [ quick google confirms this for saint as well]
The ring needs to be suited to the bash that is the bash will have a maximum size as the bash needs to be bigger than the ring for obvious reasons
Right, so if it's a 36t ring it should fit either outside where my bash is currently or in the middle placement ? Im a bit confused as I thought outer and middle fitted differently ? Or am I missing something ? Obviuosly I want to just replace my middle ring and keep my bash where it is .
granny has it own place and is a smaller BCD
outer and middle use the same holes with the middle inside the bash [ nearer the frame].
with a triple the largest ring is on the outside of the middle [ away from the frame where the bash would be] but using the same holes for placement on cranks as above
Jusy buy the ring you want at that BCD and it will fit where the current one is [ i am assuming saint are standard BCD and hole size etc]
