New bike arrived last night, there's a little bag tie wrapped to one of the cranks with two washers in it. Is this a common thing with carbon cranks? Do I need to install them along with the pedals? Never had to on any other set up I've had before.

I've always used them with carbon cranks, if I don't some of the pedals bind onto the crank arm. Boomslang pedals are a pig for it without the washers.

New bikes tend to come with pedal washers. It's almost impossible to buy them after the fact.

I've used them and I've not used them. I'm not dead. If it was me and I had a bike with carbon cranks, I'd fit them just because.

Have a few pairs of those washers always got them from LBS no problem.

Old race Face cranks used to need them. Pedals run without them would strip the threads.

If you find ebay too challenging, indeed it is.
