Well having read & listened to all the hype I've took the plunge & purchased a 650b,an Orange Crush !,& I've gotta say ,having rode it today for the first time I'm well impressed, compared toy 5 pro it certainly rolls and climbs a lot faster..and it was £2700 cheaper !..

Makes you think do we need a full suss all singing & dancing bike !,don't get me wrong I love my 5 & will be keepin it but none the less,I'm impressed !.

In a word, no, I don't. Enjoy 650 🙂

I would imagine that something pretty magical happened to the trails whilst you were riding it 😉

If 650B is still around when I need a new frame, I'm hoping to have saved enough for a Bronson C. Unlike some, I definitely feel the need to have an all-singing all-dancing full suss and I'm not ashamed to admit it 😀

Enjoy!

I'm trying out 29" after having a 26" 5. Not sure atm, think I'll change it for a 650b 5 in the future.

I'm assuming, as a hardtail, it's also substantially lighter?

I think the question on everyones lips is:

Did the trail come alive?

I wouldn't go as far as to say that, but its certainly a nice fast bike to use, given its a budget bike..

Did the trail come alive?

That joke was not that funny in the first place and no matter how many times it gets repeated by how ever many different people it doesn't get any funnier.

Can I ask that if you insist on pinching other peoples jokes you make sure they're good ones?

you'll be suggesting that we don't own anyone with bombers or wee in their shoes next!

I think the thing with these little memes is that they're not necessarily funny per se, they're just the in-jokes that groups of people develop and roll out at every opportunity.

PErsonally, I'm waiting to criticise the OP's lawn and choice of tyre logo alignment.

Some can be funny, that one is not. Saying it over and over does not make it any funnier.

There was a whole thread about the mileage left in the '650B trail comes alive' references, with a cameo appearance from bikeind himself:

http://singletrackmag.com/forum/topic/makes-whatever-come-alive-banable-offence

Well, it turned into a thread about how much mileage there was left in it, that's not how it started 🙂

I'm fine thanks, don't worry about me. No killjoy either but every time that 'joke' is used again it's like nails down a chalk board. It's become more boring then the actual threads about 650b.

If you insist on using it at least try to make it slightly more funny by sticking your own touch on it, rather then repeating (again) the same 'joke'. It shows no imagination.

chestrockwell, I was just about to use the joke in another thread, but after reading your post I realized that it directly affects some people in a negative way and so I won't use it or any other repeated jokes on the internet, out of respect.

Sincerely,
no one.

It still gets me everytime, almost as good as Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder getting bad in Stir Crazy.
