You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
This mornings deliberate myopic Mini and then the later Lexus punishment pass and subsequent red mist chase are the last straw (again) for commuting.
We’ve had our few months but the rage cagers are back in control again.
I’m going back to driving tomorrow - i’ve done my bit over the years and come to the conclusion that if my local council or government cant provide me with safe infrastructure other than a tin of line paint then I’m not willing to put my life on the line for this country’s CO2 emissions.
Bikes going on ebay this weekend. Flounce over and out!

What is it and what size 😉
Do you still have the Prairie? Not sure which I'd feel safer crashing into modern traffic, that or the bike!
I commuted for a few months so the work van wouldn't be at my house and even though it was only a couple of miles, I concluded that I'd either end up getting hurt or arrested.
Work van lives at home now.

The PussyWagon is long dead unfortunetly.

I think drivers have forgotten how to drive in lockdown
whilst im driving, twice ive had drivers treat roundabouts as junctions
At least you've got a job to go to, eh? X
There is certainly a lot of out of practice or inexperienced drivers about, prob avoiding public transport. Very noticeable in London the last couple of days.
That car is amazing. I feel your pain - I used to do a c. 10 mile commute each way on a bike. After the 3rd hit I stopped road riding all together (other than to MTB). Handily and totally by accident I bought a house near the intersection of the C2C offroad and another graaavvvvelllll line so I don't actually need to go on a road if I want to put some mud free miles in.
I'd definitely have checked your Nissan out if I'd seen that parked up. Modern expensive cars don't turn my head but something a bit out of the ordinary like that would.
I’d agree with the comment above about drivers forgetting to drive. Speed has gone through the roof in my area and they don’t seem overly keen on giving space either.
It may not be so bad once the novelty of emptier roads has worn off and it’s he police get their speed guns out again.
police get their speed guns out again
We'd need some actual Police on the roads 1st
Not sure if we actually have any Police around here.
But but but... surely.. I thought... the whole country were cyclists now!?! That's what my email from Lovetoride said and all government expenditure means it's going to be like Amsterdam all over England! er, isn't it?

Round here when they were stopping illegal parking near tourist spots they were using speed cameras as well, presumably to catch all those who accelerated away in "no officer, I wasn't slowing down to park illegally" manner.
This is the Draconian Derbyshire Drone Force of course.
I think drivers have forgotten how to drive in lockdown
Pedestrians have forgotten how to...pedest(?) too
Barrelling along on the road bike last week, dog walker ahead, she just steps off the pavement without even remotely looking, simply because she can't hear any cars, the road must be empty.
She certainly heard me as she stepped into the road...
I think that people in general have got used to empty roads. Drivers speeding, cyclists zipping through junctions, pedestrians in the road. Traffic does seem to be building back up. Also seeing less people out for an evening stroll
Seems mad to me the number strolling down the centre of a national speed limit lane with their dogs off the leads, normally it's quite busy with commuter, vans and tractors while it's quieter there is still people going down it and they don't seem to care. How many points is it for taking out a family and dog?
Please don't let the idiots win. The more of use that commute by bike the safer we'll be.
Ideally, much as finbar says, don't let the tosspots win. I haven't been commuting as I'm furloughed. I've done some small sections on roads on my doorstep rides but not had any issues. Although that there environment thing was a big contributing factors to me turning to cycle commuting, I mainly continue it just for myself now, for fitness, mental health, enjoyment. Keep the bike for.... errrm..... bike rides?
Sadly risking your life just to commute to work is not a good balance.
The only way this will change is for the driving test to include riding a bike for a week. Which would be great, but unlikley.
Changing drivers attitudes is a massive thing, it wont happen because 1/1000 are fined or told off by the police. We cant fill in pot holes, so waiting for cycle lanes is going to be a long wait.
I think it may get worse with more electric cars, you cant hear them comming.
Please don’t let the idiots win. The more of use that commute by bike the safer we’ll be.
Better to die a free man......
The exercise benefits and mental health benefits of commuting a so high and your risk of getting killed on the bike so low that regular bike commuters live longer. So carry on.
That depends entirely on the roads you are riding on, personally I know several roads I wouldn't go near in a bike.
Got honked at earlier on the approach to a roundabout earlier, I can only assume it was because I took primary and Skoda ****face was planning on squeezing between me and the island.
I don't blame you about commuting on bikes. Too many broken bones for me too many times, the last very nearly ended up in a wheelchair, but left in permanent pain.
