I’m looking for a 26 front tyre for the pumptrack/Dadcountry bike I’m building up. I’ve got a 2.4 DTH for the rear and now I’m thinking about the front. It needs to be able to ride tarmac, dirt and that hard pack surfacing with gravel bits that councils seem to like to use on tracks. Also needs to be able to handle some general pottering around with the kids on family trails.
I think i’ve narrowed it down to either a 26x2.1 Kenda Small Block 8 or a 26x2.2 Maxxis Ikon. I’m guessing they’re a similar size as Maxxis tyres has traditionally always come up small, but just looking for feedback. The other bonus with these 2 is that they’re pretty cheap. They’ll be set up hard with tubes.
What I’d really like is a 26x2.4 Maxx Daddy but such a thing doesn’t exist.

Don't know about 26", but 700c sb8 are about the slowest tyre I've ridden. No idea why, but really draggy compared to various others. I'd go for the maxxis, but also consider a conti race king as an option?

Cheers. I guess with the Icon I won’t have to stress about mixing tyre brands/logos.
