Watched that last night.. the blokes got some bottle. Having said that and being clear that I know nothing about building a ramp like this or jumping over much of anything but right from the start of the video I had the thought that the ramp looked way too steep to get him over the house.?!

Still, was an entertaining 20 minutes.. Brendog's channel has been a pretty good distraction through most of the various lockdowns.

Gotta love his missus telling him 'that's enough now' at the end of the vid.. 😀

I feel like I just watched about 12 videos of him falling off his house.

Gotta love his missus telling him ‘that’s enough now’ at the end of the vid..

The "don't do that again" did seem quite miffed.

"so Brendan, how did you end up in hospital adding to the workload of the overstretched NHS?"

"I was trying to jump my house on a push bike after being towed in by Motorcross bike"

Fails on Rule 1 (don't be a dick) in my eyes.

Christ, here we go we another made up rule.

That is commensurate with his abilities, same as me going out and riding my local trails, same as my neighbour walking the local hills, he's not pushing himself out of HIS zone, if it was Dave Jenvey doing it, then I'd agree with you.

Dez, how does one go about priming the bollocks?!! haha

Agreed, while I am not a fan of the whole youtuber/influencer culture bollocks that means people give up racing careers to make clickbait videos it is a) not his fault b) his job and c) something he is quite good at.

Also by doing at his house he has prevented the mob of fifteen yearolds working out the location and copying it, which about the only (covid lockdown) fault you could find with these videos normally. Not exclusive to Fairclough, Kerr et al in the surrey hills, the smae thing will apply with the 50-01, Hazzard Dudes, even the GMBN crew in their respective local areas.

Haha, that made me laugh.

What a lunatic. The sketchiness of the run in alone would have put off anyone with normal sanity levels.

Needed more plywood obviously.

Half of me thinks OK that's kind of funny.

The other half of me thinks with a lockdown going on that he shouldn't have a group of his mates round helping him with such antics.

Pah, that's nothing, if he wants something sketchy, wait until Surrey Royal Hospital is trying to land him a bed while he's lying in the ambulance queue next week.

That is commensurate with his abilities,

So it appears.

If any of the judgemental knob heads on this forum did that, I'd say they're idiots. What you're forgetting is, Brendan can ride a bike a lot better than you can possibly imagine.
Now, i suggest some of step away from the keyboards, as you might cut a pinky on it😉

"That is commensurate with his abilities, same as me going out and riding my local trails"

So taking a massive slam like that is within his abilities? No, utter bollocks. I think we'd all agree he's lucky to not have injured himself.

Taking risks like that in todays climate it utterly idiotic, regardless of if it's to get some clicks to earn his money. I wonder how all the NHS workers would feel coming back from a 12 hour shift of hell and seeing people taking risks like this? I know, why don't we make a reaction video to this of my nurse OH who often gets back from the hospital and sits on the sofa in tears? That'll get him some views too. Doesn't paint a good picture for cyclists and the amount of grief we get in general either. Absolutely ashamed by videos like this and would certainly not be happy if I was his sponsor.

If he needs video views then he should be doing it another way. How about a series where he teaches people to do the basics like bunnyhop or wheelie. Or give us a series 'behind the scenes' of what training in the off-season looks like for a pro and encourages people to join in.

Impressive he kept trying after the first crash into the roof 🙂 I would have thought that little jump over the crap on the drive would have lost him some speed?

I watched it, entertaining enough but he clearly didn't have enough speed to make the jump and he would have known that. So the only conclusion is that he wanted an end to his video even if that meant stacking it, which to be fair he's probably good at as well but...
Guess he needs to keep the clicks coming.

I thought it was a brilliant video. He is very entertaining and has massive balls / skills.

Some of those on the forum getting upset about him risking clogging up the NHS need to vent their anger/frustration at Covid somewhere else.

FFS, you had better stop taking a shower with soap, just in case you slip in the shower. Or put corks on all your forks, just in case you trip up in the kitchen and stab yourself with one.

As an NHS worker whose just got back being at work in the hospital, I thought it was great. He saw where it was going at called it quits.
Best bit was him getting bollocked by his lady, I guess he's doesn't take her to Rampage.

people give up racing careers to make clickbait videos

As I understand it, the reason Brendan is still racing DH as some 10 years ago his team told him that there was absolutely no expectation for him to make race podiums and to carry on enjoying being himself. He would've had to be as disciplined as Gee to stay race relevant.
Without that team guidance he might have faded off into obscurity but what we have as a result is much much much better I reckon 🙂

There was a good segment on a Remy metallier vid where he explained why he wasn't going to risk riding a relatively easy but high consequence elevated skinny as this was risk he couldn't manage, yet he's happy to drop a bunch of massive consequence snow covered features.

Sorry but as others have said this fails rule 1.

Presumably his sponsors are happy with these antics and how badly it reflects on them. At least by not buying his sponsors products I am not contributing to the cost of doing this.

To be fair, that would be a pretty rubbish trip for her, before you consider the risk. 10 (?) days in a motel in the desert, with him up the hill from down til dusk, coming back dusty and knackered and straight to bed.

That's a bit of a logic fail imo. The risk of accident maybe deminished to the same as me riding down a trail because of his rad skills but that doesn't mean the consequence is the same. My likely outcome is a busted wrist, His outcome at the same level of likelihood as mine is going to take a lot more fixing.

Making videos intended to go viral whilst breaking lockdown rules about mixing households and trashing something (even if it's yours and even if you know you don't care) is not a great look.

I'm annoyed that society/mtb riding public have made that a more viable career path, not at him for doing it. I think I am in the minority with this view though.

He's clearly a good rider and good on camera both of which have given him a very unique and interesting career and I wish him the best of luck with it.

Kerr on the other hand has gone right down in my estimation in 2020.

Unlikely, and again he can do as he pleases with his career.

I am in the demographic that can actually afford a Pivot though, and personally, my opinion of that brand has gone down due to his actions.

Probably best coming up short, making it and landing on a moving bit of OSB could have been worse. Very marketable bunch compared to 50to01 although they’ve got better merch.

If I only I had half his ability.

Honestly, not sure why all the negatives, this jump looks big and scary, but for Brendan it's controlled and minimal risk, anyone who's done a step up knows you fall off if you lose all your speed, and in 99% of those situations, get a slow hit fall over, worst case a sore sack, if he was doing a massive 50 foot gap jump or DH gap then i'd be more worried for him, pushing it and gaining speed on the way down is a recipe for hospital!

I'd say there were more middle aged men on roadbikes injured worse at the weekend riding road bikes on icy roads at 20+ mph!

Brendan is indeed doing his job which he is entitled to do during lockdown.
by the very nature of his work it represents risk which whilst can be limited by his own actions still present a high risk but building a sketchy ramp and continuing with this onslaught of unwatchable tomfoolery he's massively increasing the likelihood of doing himself in .
I know his race career hasn't been what he might of hoped for results wise but there has to be other ways for pro riders to get there viewing figures from YouTube without giving the rest of the world the opinion were all a bunch of dicks.
Were all entitled to an opinion some think meh! Let him do it but I'm working in construction so can't work from home and when on the scaffolding tom as usual I'll remain clipped in using the lift rather than climbing up the outside of the scaffolding.
For what it's worth I like the old dog and used to work with him when he first started out riding orange but he's still got absolutely zero common sense .
I know he's not the only one

Brilliant video I'm fairly sure Brendan doing this in lockdown is much more in his comfort zone than Danny nose endoing down the Black slab in Elgol in september. Fair play to them both very entertaining and I doubt there will be a load of 14 year olds trying to emulate either.
The level of keyboard outrage in the last few days has been something else on here what with the 4 or 5 EWS pros chatting either side of a cycle lane near Peebles and Brendog sliding off his bungalow to a raised garden.

As the NHS is constantly under pressure, at least every winter, you could argue that no one should ever be doing anything which potentially increases their workload.

Maybe if the NHS was actually funded properly and we didn't have a culture of wanting to send the poorly paid nurses "back home" then our health service wouldn't be struggling so much.

I’m annoyed that society/mtb riding public have made that a more viable career path,

I totally understand this perspective, although don't forget that this is also strategiesed by the brand's themselves. Grass roots athletes can be far more relatable that an almost anonymous single race run. With a shredit, consumers get to "meet" the athlete and aspire to be them. Yes often it would be foolish to recreate what we see them doing but by generating viewer "Stoke" they generate brand excitement far more than a 31st place DH WC finish.
I'm honestly more into Bernard Kerr nose manualling In-and-Out-Burger in squamish and stoppy landing A-line jumps than any of his race runs.

Course Oli broke his ankle recently jumping off that cliff.
I guess they always did stuff like that, it's just they tend to #vlogit lately.

Real shame for Oli as he already has ankle issues I think.

Love a Brendog/Wilkins video though.

This is nothing!

I joined the Surrey Hills FB group.

What a mistake!

It's just endless videos from morons imitating this sort of thing. Wheel spinning cars, skids on their bikes and bantz with The Lads. Everyone can be a Jackass these days!

Literally zero posts about what tyres, planes on runways or retirement advice.

LAME.

It was Bren’s parents house, he bought it from them.

Olly Wilkins talks about his ankle and other professional riders and the whole lockdown injury thing here. It’s at the beginning before Rob Warner, but I’d advise listening to the whole thing, it’s quite funny.
