If you had to choose between a Titus El Guapo with CCDB (£2k) and a Canyon Nerve AL+ 7.0 (£1,789) which would you go for and why?

And what else would you consider around the same price point?

I dunno about the canyon, but I've got an EG and it's ace.

Not sure if that helps 😛 Happy to answer questions?

Having not had a ride on either I would go with the EG purely as it will be easier to deal with should anything go wrong, not that I'm aware of any issues.
However, I've seen a few Canyons out on the trials with issues (cracked dropouts) and the distance selling model would put me off. Probably of no use to you though.

On One have a distance selling model too don't they? Only difference is the distance involved.

Tough choice. If you're not an upgrader/parts-swapper then make the choice based on the suitability of the fork for your intended use.

That's true.
I don't live too far away from PX/OO so would be going down to the showroom and checking the bike out rather than a blind purchase.
I know that's not possible for everyone though, but it's probably easier than going to Germany.
Do Canyon have a shop/showroom or is it purely on-line (just out of interest really)?

EDIT: Should have maybe put DIRECT selling rather than DISTANCE selling 😕

I'm largely looking for a complete bike that I'll make a few changes to before I start using it, then upgrade / replace parts as I see fit.

Intended use is UK trail centre and Big Days Out with some migration to alpine / SE France natural trails as I get the chance. Definitely need something that climbs well...

A Motocross bike. Maybe something to restore over the winter. Nicely restored twin shock bikes are easy to do.

I'm in Bristol if that helps, and it's a large (I'm at the top end size wise at 6'4")... (not actually ridden it round here yet tho, been on the XC bike)

climbs well

I'd not say it climbs well, it climbs "fine". For me it's a replacement for a DH race bike that I can ride on day rides occasionally/enduros etc. So I'm coming from the DH bike I can pedal angle, rather than long travel XC. For that it's great, it's low and slack enough.

The main handicap to its climbing is the BB height, you have to watch your pedals or you clout them on stuff. But then this is good for DH...

"Good at climbing" is all relative though. My XC bike's a 29er hardtail, light tubeless wheels, SIDs, etc.. goes up hills like a rocket in comparison. But I've still ridden the EG up plenty hills...climbing ability is more the rider than the bike. I find the bike just affects the speed I get there mostly!

EDIT: mine's not the stock build, it's my own bits. Totems at 160mm, sturdy wheels etc. 1x9.

There's a small EG up for £1600 if it's still available... Check the on-one facebook page, might even be on their website.
