if a boxed bike was damaged by airport baggage handlers, who would you claim from?
I'd start with the airline your'e travelling with Tony. Are you just wondering?
yes, just ticking boxes.
The airline initially although I think you might have to declare if you want over £1000 ish cover. It's got a name that I can't remember and I think it costs about £30.
I looked in to it a bit when I was taking kitesurfing kit. I didn't do it though as I took the gamble.
Check you personally have insurance rather than rely on someone else. Try Pedalcover, they are good for that sort of thing.
I've claimed off the airline.
They made me jump through many hoops before paying up.
Give your bike a quick look over before you leave the airport as informing them of a problem there and then makes stuff a little easier.
Baggage handlers damaged my bike bag and I claimed off the airline.
my home insurance covers me home and away.
just checking re the airlines.
cheers
Found it, Google special declaration of interest.
You would claim from the airline as your contract is with the airline, if the handlers are found to be at fault then the airline will pay out and then bill the handlers.
Be sure to examine the bike case carefully before leaving the baggage hall and if it looks damaged, register a claim. It's the same story when signing for a parcel delivery; if you sign for it in good condition you'll have a battle when you unpack it later and find the contents damaged.
