Trying to source a set of cheapish, lightish forks for a build for my soon to be 9 year old, stumbled across these on eBay and was wondering if anyone can ID the year, looking at the remaining decals I think it's a 2015.

I was looking for SID's or REBA's but they either have a remote lockout or are silly money.

Maybe ask the seller to send you the code on the disk side fork leg and you can look it up?

The code on photo 5 seems to read C5ND which the Fox Support page says is "2017 Performance Series 32 FLOAT 27.5 GRIP".

C5ND

https://www.ridefox.com/fox17/help.php?m=bike&ref=findbycode

2017 Performance Series 32 FLOAT 27.5 GRIP
2017, 32, A, FLOAT SC, 27.5in, P-S, 100, Remote, Grip, (7pm CP), Matte Blk, Std/Matte Blk Logo, 15QRx110, 1.5 T, 44mm Rake, OE

Doesn't agree with the auction description.

Thanks, I couldn't read the code so asked the seller but haven't heard back. I don't think he's the original owner so doubt he actually knows what he's got.

So GRIP vs FIT, I assume the GRIP is lower down the Fox tree? Are they any good?

Oh yes, totally the wrong fork, it says it should be Boost and 100mm travel... Oh well, the search continues.

The code is actually CSND which is:

2015 Performance Series 32 FLOAT 27.5 FIT CTD
2015, 32, A, FLOAT, 27.5in, P-S, 120, CTD, FIT, Blk, B/W|7405C Yellow Band, B/W Logo, 15QR, 1.5 T, 44mm Rake, OE

So back to the original question, are they any good?

Are they any good for a 9 year old? Only issue is they might not/probably won't be adjustable to his weight without some customisation.

Is that because of the bladder type damper? Lighter oil in the legs won't make a difference I guess.

That sounds more like it. Still looks like a 5 to me unless you really look hard.

FYI the 'GRIP' damper, despite initially being Fox's budget option, is actually really, really good and got excellent reviews. I've been runiing some 34 GRIP forks for the past two years and they were ace.

Well I hope so because I took the plunge and bought them. Will probably give them a lower leg service and see what the condition is like inside.
