I'd like to get a s/h bike for Alps trips / occasional enduros so I can ride with my boy. It wouldn't see a lot of use outside of that, so what bikes suggest themselves that are good, cost around a grand, and available on the s/h market?
First thought is a metal nukeproof mega 290 - feels like there should be plenty of those about?
Specialized Status 160.
Specialized Status 160.
Capra?
Whyte?
Mega not a bad shout.
Are you set on 29in?
I've seen status's £2k new in a few shops recently. So in theory they should be very cheap second hand
Spesh Enduro
Mate of mine sold his carbon one for £1600
For a thousand pound used purchase, id focus less on specific bikes and more on just seeing whatsout there, in good nick, good spec, and been looked after, just like buying a budget used car. Alloy, reasonably recent, and with easily serviceable or repairable fork/shock (so Fox or RS really).
Pinkbike buy/sell and facebook being the most obvious place to keep an eye on (Sorry STW)
Status is ACE.. but REALLY REALLY REALLY tape up the chainstay just behind the chainring. Any and every Status is completely mullered just there.
What about saving your money and just hiring one now and again?
otherwise any enduro bike will probably do. See what’s about and make offers. The Status is fun though.
