I'm a bit out of touch but I'm looking to build a new bike and I've found in the past that wheel choice is critical.

Looking for reasonable price/weight/strength.

My first stop was Superstar as I've had nice wheels from there before and I'm hoping I could get something for around £200 to £250?

I want something light but with a wide enough rim to give tyres around 2.25 a good profile for cornering and protecting the rim. I like Maxxis Advantage tyres partly because they're quite a tall tyre increasing the distance between rim and outer edge but will consider other fast rolling tyres.

Also want to try tubeless for the first time to save weight and increase speed.

Thanks.

Have a look at the Alex rims with Chosen hubs at Merlin. Great value for the money.

Thanks they look nice. It say's for tyres over 2.35" but I wonder if I could get away with putting a 2.25" on them?

Abigales boyfriend is running them with Ardents. He is very impressed with them.

Quite a nice tyre them. Got them on my 29er but never liked them on the 26 strangely.

Secondhand Hope pro2 evos on Stans Arch Ex rims.

Also... Have a look in the Superstar sale wheels, they have some Switch Ultra Hubs on Arch Ex, if you add the discount code from the homepage, they come out at £175.

You'll struggle to beat that.

I've run SRAM ROAM 40s and they are great, strong and reasonably light weight see ROAM 40 for the spec.

I have an unused brand new set of ROAM 40s which I was trying to sell a couple of months ago, they would cost £500+ to buy new so if you are interested drop me an email (see my profile) and make me a sensible offer if they float your boat. They are 650b, are dead easy to use tubeless and I have a brand new XD driver that I could include if you need it.
