Guys, looking at a new bike for next year. And eyeing up things like the Ibis SLR and the Cannondale Jekyll. I have too many ibis's but the SLR looks gorgeous. I want something that can climb well but can be made to suit Big mountains like alps or Andes etc. the Cannondale appeals for on fly changing and the angleset on the SLR means I could make it a bigger all mountain bike platform for a trip abroad.

Any others I should look at? At this point price isn't in the equation as you might tell. And for those that know me yes I am trying to bring something in my bike stable into this century!

I also need to find shop with test jekylls... Surrey or middlesex.

I'll have a look at the ventana, not thought about them.

mashiehood, somebody at the weekend said Yeti SB66?

Any others. Something nice and light, something I can slacken when needed, preferably on the fly. An all mountain machine that I can use in the UK mostly but will be amendable for bigger gnarly real ;o) mountains!

personally i don't buy into changing the geometry on the fly - I was also looking at the Intense Carbine. The SB66 is also an option but hard to get hold of at the moment.

yeah i get that and could be swayed. I rode the Trans-provence this year and on the fly would be helpful 1000's of feet of climbing followed by 1000's of feet descending, a flick of a switch is tempting but probably overkill back onshore in england.

if you're looking at sb66's and the like, what about mojo HD? Can be run in 140mm mode for UK and then swapped to 160mm rear travel and 180mm (or 160mm if you prefer) front with correspodingly slacker angles for real mountains, But not on the fly.

the HD struck me as overkill and the SLR seemed more like my xc thing. I asked 2pure about tests and they have customer frames coming in but no test bikes in plan, and I'd like a test ride if i spend that much dosh.

I think The Bike Chain in Edinburgh can probably sort you out with a test ride. I seem to remember them having one or two built up as demo bikes but not sure if that's the case. Bit far for you to travel but as you say, if you're spending this much you want to test ride it first.
