I've ordered a set of Ibis wheels with their own brand Ibis Logo Hubs, but the front hub has 12mm thru axle end caps. I'd like to swap these for 15mm end caps, but can't find any in stock in the UK.
I'm presuming Ibis rebrand someone else's hub rather than manufacturer them in house. Does anyone know who makes them? Or where I could source some end caps?
Novatec always a good bet
dunno, but the carbon rims were/are Derby so could be one fo the hubs they use?
Used to be Novatec but that was from my knowledge of a few years past, they were a pain to get spares for though.Â
If they do turn out to be Novatec, then it's possible they might use the same end caps as one of Hunt's wheels.
I've found Hunt quite helpful when investigating a Novatec freehub replacement in the past.
Thanks for the replies folks. I'm not sure if they're Novatec hubs, if they are I can't see any 15mm end caps that look similar. Most of the end caps seem to be shaped like a top hat, whereas these have a tube that sits in the bearing, then the flange, then another tube that locates in the dropout.
From what I've read the hubs were used by Ibis from 2017 onwards for their wheelsets as en entry level, or you could pay more to get the wheels built with Industry Nine hubs. The hubs themselves have cutouts on both the flanges on the front hub, whereas most Novatecs I've seen only have it on one side.
I've had a quick look at Chosen hubs, but can't find anything that looks the same. The Halo MT looks similar, but the hub body tapers over the axle whereas the Ibis hub is straighter. I'll keep searching.
I had a quick look at the Derby website too, but they seem to offer builds with more known brand hubs.
