Can you get a cheaper equivalent ? Or this value for money?
Cheers
Its certainly a nice first road bike, you looked at canyon yet? (although you might be best of getting something from an lbs so u can get sized)
Is this your first road bike? If so spending over 2k may not be the best idea.
Got something cheaper and find out a) if you enjoy it b) what sort of road rider you are (bimbler, tourer, sportive type or racer).
As for that bike - looks OK, but not very exciting.
Specialized are rarely seen as "value". They do make good bikes, tried and tested.
If you want value for money then I'd look at Canyon,Rosebikes,Planet X, Ribble and Merlin although finding these bikes to look at will be much harder as they either have limited shops or no shops at all.
Focus is another one to look at if there is a supplier near you.
Recently bought this. Lovely it is too.
Depending on your size this looks to be comparable and a chunk cheaper

Commuting on carve pro HT 8.5mile each way. Think I could cut 5 mins off the journey time. The thing is thou I love the riding style of my hardtail.

I bought a Scott Speedster30 road bike in December on a whim, its been ridden twice and now sits unused alone in my garage as its not my thing really, glad I bought it in the sales and not full price, live and learn.

What you mean it's not exciting? Tell me which ones are ?
If you are going to use it mainly for commuting have you considered a cx bike?
That's a great bike, but not a bargain.
FWIW, after commuting on my HT Trek, I bought a Roubaix as my first road bike in over thirty years. Tried the Tarmac, but too racy for me. Commute is slightly faster (10-15%), but much more enjoyable. Go and try it, and then if you like it, get the store to bike fit it as part of the purchase deal.

A slower road bike?

A cx bike in road mode makes very little difference in terms of speed if they're the similar spec.
It doesn't come with any speakers fitted 🙁
