... gear cable for my one-up dropper so it can mate with my KS trigger lever. Both need the Shimano style stopper end.

Anyone know if there's a solution? I figured it might be possible to get a removable grub screw style stopper but can't seem to find anything online? Or can I somehow swage a short section of the end of another cable?

🤔

Hmmm..... Easiest solution is one of the Chinese wolf tooth style levers. Better than the KS lever anyway.

You can use a blob of solder on one end. Will probably need to be acid core solder though as it's had to solder onto the stainless cable. Commonly done on old motorbike cables.

Solder won’t allow for the cable stretch will it? Will something like this work from KS - you may have to cut it down?

Have a Google for solderless nipple and see if you can find one the right shape. Might struggle to find one small enough though

Specialized do tiny spare grub screws for their Command post.

You can use an inline barrel adjuster to manage cable stretch.

Thanks everyone. Solderless nipple was the search term I was after clearly.
Don't really want to buy another lever if I can avoid it.
The KS link is good, but the nipple needs to be at vertical not horizontal.

And, oddly enough I've had to solder a nipple to a motorbike clutch cable in the past.

But at least on a motorcycle clutch cable the nipple is big enough to be counterbored to allow the cable to be flared before soldering, which is actually what gives it its strength.
Like others have said, I’d just buy another lever. The One Up one is good.

But I don't 'need' another one. I picked up a secondhand BMC one that does the job, but prefer the KS one. Would rather spend the money on other things if for the sake of pennies I can get a nipple.

Seem to remember my KS is grub screw with a claw at the seat end so standard cable works fine... But I'm guessing you've already checked that.

Sorry, just bothered to read the original post properly.

The KS eten uses an inline nipple. Stif sell them but I cannot find a link.

I made my own. 2/3rds down in here:

https://singletrackmag.com/forum/topic/whats-one-of-these-called-or-small-piece-machining-help/

The 10cm brass rod I got from Amazon came in a pack with a range of diameters. It's been pretty handy for a few other things since.

Would have been a lot less hassle to buy one from KS or Spec. spares, though!
