i've always been a schwalbe man (i ran nobby nics front and rear on my turner and have rocket ron / racing ralph on my yeti). i've also dabbled with continetal speed kings with great results.

for my cannondale 1x9 rigid i took a punt on a set of michelin wild race'r advanced tyres (2.25" front, 2.00" rear). i am running these on xc717 rims tubeless with a joes notubes set-up. the tyres are the non tubeless variant btw.

what can i say... these tyres are AWESOME!!!... they are similar weight to Scwalbes, seem much more durable in terms of sidewall construction and despite being the dry xc tyres, take deep mud really well.

i was out for a ride last night which took in deep mud, standing water, flint/chalk, grass, the whole works, and not once did they step out of line. on the final road blast home, they spun with naff all resistance.

i can't remember the last time i was so impressed with a set of tyres. i think i might ditch the ro-ro/ra-ra on the yeti and switch over to another set of these... i think they would be absolutely ideal for fast trail centre riding.

best of all, despite being mega popular (and therefore expensive) on the continent, they play second fiddle to schwalbe, continental and maxxis over here, so you can pick them up cheap. CRC do a good deal on them at the moment (which is where i bought mine)

try them... you may be very pleasantly surprised!

Like the look of those... hmm.

Not to be confused with the Michelin Wild Race'R - which are the DryIIs renamed and are awful. I used to use Michelin Jets in the summer, they were amazingly fast.

(2.25" front, 2.00" rear)
CRC only have 2.1 🙁

Hmm I've had Nobby Nics on my bike for a few years now and this last weekend put some faster rolling Maxxis Crossmarks on. The things that surprised me were

1. How much quicker the Crossmarks rolled on grass etc.
2. How quickly they gave way on either dry gravel or in thick mud.

but

3. How much more progressive they were when they gave way than NN's

So what I want is a tyre that rolls much better than NN's but has similar volume, but can actually grip in mud, but is more progressive than a NN when it gives way.

Might try some of them above ^^

Weird - the tubeless version has the old Dry2 pattern. Confusing!

A Michelin tyre love in? I thought it would never happen. They have always made some good tyres, just less "fashionable" than others.

I've got a set of XC dry2's and they are ridiculously quick, and can handle wet light muddy conditions.

+1

Very quick in the dry, in Jan-Mar this year I was flying on them. Since the rain however they're rather sketchy 🙂
