Well that was fun. 3 sets of Shimano brakes with 3 types of I spec. B, 2 and EV. So this is a sort of FYI thread.

From this fun experiment I got my I Spec 2 shifter paired with an EV lever by just moving the threaded insert from the I Spec 2 bracket to the I Spec EV lever aperture, then using a front derailleur (remember them) cable stop bolt. It's a perfect fit with no adapters required!

I did get the I Spec B shifter to mount on both 2 and EV as well but it was a less perfect solution. I ended up converting the shifter to band on, which was on the expensive side for a alu bracket and plastic cover!

I think I did the same, but seem to remember the angle/position of the shifter was a bit out compared to the brake?

Hate ispec (well, the fact there are 3 standards)

[cough] 4 options [/cough]

credit where credit’s due. Shimano like to mix it up a bit!

Shimano thought process, let's combine gear shifting in one neat unit tell everyone how wonderful it is then bring out new versions that aren't compatible with each other 🙄

After all why settle for frustration when with a little more effort you can be @@@@ing annoying! 🙄

What's even more annoying is that there's loads of cheap Chinese clamps on eBay for the Sram shifter but sod all for I spec ev. Wolftooth do an overpriced one as well as Kcnc but for some reason the nation known for making knock offs of everything else haven't gotten around to making one yet.

I noticed that.

If you just need the insert, I reckon (I haven't tried it) you could use the insert out of either below. It's just a threaded hole and bolt after all.

The one below converts a shifter with band on top cover!

I have innocently/naively stumbled into this Ispec palaver when I upgraded my brakes to saint which has I spec b.
My remote lever is a shimano I spec ev.  The options seem to be 1/ spend ridiculous money on a wolf tooth I spec b compatible lever and 2/ not much else.

Has anyone managed to solve this specific conundrum yet? I may have to get a second band on the left, and abandon the idea of a tidy 2 band cockpit.

I think there's a Shimano part which allows an EV shifter or Dropper to be fitted to a B brake lever.

I also think I've got one in the garage waiting to go on my HT when I swap to 12sp.

I also also think that I'd rather Google it right now that have to go out there and check but if I can't find it online, I'll go and see if it exists or whether I imagined it.

I bought a Ztto dropper lever and used the clamp to mount a EV shifter.

So I have an ev shifter and a choice of Formula cura (on bike now), Magura MT5 or ispec B brake levers.

I've come to the conclusion that the least faff will be to use a sram clamp to mount the Ev shifter to the bar.
