On the lookout for a new drivechain and had an offer from Merlin of 20% off an SLX group. Looks like the shifter choice is i spec 2 only. I have current generation xt brakes, is the shifter mount compatible?

M8000 XT and M7000 SLX (the current ones) are both I-Spec II and work well together.
I was slightly miffed when I had my M8000 brakes as a warranty replacement for my M786 brakes that my shifter wouldn't fit and I'd have to buy a new one, lucky for me my mate bought a I-Spec II shifter by mistake and sat on it for over a year and I saved it from the bin.
I-Spec II is miles better than I-Spec B, which was fiddly to fit, overly compex and prone to come loose from time to time. II is easy to fit and I can't image would ever fall off.
