to cycle the 23 km to work and back. They need to be: stiff, not too sweaty, two holes for cleats MTB style, not look too daft. What have you got?
I have been using a pair of DMT MTB shoes for road and cyclocross, they're probably 4 years old now.
At first I thought the carbon sole would be too stiff, but in use they have been brilliant. The double BOA system works really well too, can easily dial in the tension across your foot evenly.
Have worn them for full day rides and not had to think about them or my feet, so I suppose they work?
Fit wise - I'd say they're slim fitting. I ordered two sizes just to be sure.
I currently have 2 pairs of RCs (commuter pair and a weekend pair) the Powerlines and Hellion and to be fair they are REALLY good. The Powerlines are less ridged seem like they have a softer sole I would say ideal for a full days riding thats gonna involve some walking too. If you want something stiffer go for the Hellion its also a bit more waterpoof. But the best thing about both shoes is the d30 soles which are really good when you hit a root or something or just generally walking on shitty trail full of roots and rocks.

Seem true to size, relatively stiff, chunky sole, and the closures appear of decent quality. I'm happy with the price too. 🙂
Thanks, guys. Is hould be able to find something in that lot. The DMTs look good but I might be stretching the budget.
Giro Rumble? Cant comment on how stiff they are but a very trainer looking SPD shoe.
