What is the general thinking just now on brakes. I am looking at Hope V2 or Avid XX.

Hope V2's for sure.
Hope was top of the list as I have had a couple of pairs in the past but I have heard a couple of people muttering they were not that good now but they probably heard that from someone that has never actualy used them.
If its hope are the floating disk a must.
Just fitted some of the new xt's to a friends bike,they are simply awsome and v cheep from rose bikes
I've got some brand new Avid Code R brakes for sale if you are interested. they were fitted to my new bike but I prefer Shimano and put those on instead.

Don't discount Formula brakes, slightly cheaper than Hope's but the Mega's I've just fitted are absolutely fantastic .. more stopping power than I could ever need and great modulation as well 🙂
Might have some 4-pot Saints for sale...... 😉
