My S100 died the lens stuck out death. I liked it (before it died), did what I needed pretty much. Main failing (other than failure) was its being soft on landscape.
Replaced it with a RX100 iii which I just cannot get along with (auto is shite and on aperture priority despite fiddling with setting I can’t get what I want). I can’t even bring myself to take it with me most days...
Any recommendations?
Must be small(-ish). S100 size was perfect. Raw preferred but not essential. Ruggedness an advantage. Ideally <£300.
I'm looking at the Lumix FT7. It is rugged and waterproof. Though don't think it does raw. Currently £300, plus £100 cashback.
I have an old Lumix FT20, would like something a bit better.
Caveat is that I love a lo-fi image and process my photos to destruction, but my current favourite biking camera is the Fuji XP130. No RAW (or any decent 'manual' mode) but for nostalgia's sake I love the Fujicolor setting and it's rugged enough for the job. For me it's kind of the digital equivalent of carrying an old Polaroid around, and that suits me just fine.
I use a Canon M3 with a 22mm. It's bigger than a S100, but not too bad and pretty light. Plenty used ones around within budget.
About as small as they get, not sealed though.

Somewhat annoyingly I'm leaning towards the canon G7X...
Bigger sensor, familiarity to my s100, blows the budget... This is what I was afraid of...
Please, shoot me now 😆
Somewhat annoyingly I’m leaning towards the canon G7X…
I have a mkII and am in Surrey (Woking) if you want to play around with mine.
I think it is great - no viewfinder but the tiltable screen is pretty useful for taking shots from heights other than the usual and the interface is non-geeky unlike the RX100. It is very holdable with just one hand. I had a photographer friend that was very taken with it.
Fuji X100F???
Thanks for the offer TG, but I’m located north of Inverness...
I did have a quick play on one in Jessops in Inverness, menu (unsurprisingly) not that dissimilar to the s100 🤣. It would take a bit of getting used to the touchscreen.
Reasons I’m leaning to the GX7 is low light capability should be good, no? The tiltable screen is useful (one of the few things I like on the RX).
How do you find it in use? I tend to favour Av priority with RAW (and smallish jpeg output).
Do you use any of the modes, onboard processing?
Does the camera sync with a phone (I’m thinking for remote fired ‘group’ shots that folk I cycle with favour...)?
Fuji X100F???
Ideally <£300
Bit pricey m afraid. Looks nice though!
Sorry hpr, I don’t fancy another Sony (after the RX experience 🤬)
