Idly sat here thinking "I liked my old 456 frame, I bet I can pick one of them up for very little and swap bits over"

Quick ebay search of "On-One frame". Turns out no 456's but a few Inbreds. However...

Two hundred and twenty five pounds! AYFKM? That's two and a quarter times what it would have been new, what fifteen years ago?

Indeed. 2 bikes sold last year. 1 on eBay went for just shy of £1k for a 2011 Stumpy FSR elite; the other went to a bloke who needed a bike and was happy to give me £450 - Spesh Diverge base model - 5 years old; bit scuffed; bought on C2W so it had effectively only cost me £525 originally. Now considering, finally, parting with my 26" wheeled 05 Stumpy HT to bank the funds til new bikes are available again. Nuts indeed

I just wish I had a mountain of spare parts like I used to. I'd be coining it in! Sadly I'm down to 2 bikes and not much else. Anything I sell I'd have to just buy again.

I've also seen a second-hand Bossnut going for £1500. B.Onkers

Indeed. 2 bikes sold last year.

I sold three road bikes last year, all 5 to 8 years old, and they more than paid for one new disc, tubeless road bike with carbon wheels (which I was lucky to have already got cheaply just before prices went nuts).

Now seriously thinking of selling one of my MTBs as I'm not riding it much and the bubble's got to burst at some point.

I've sold a few that were kicking about the place and replaced with one on C2W so very pleased with the result. I wouldn't recommend anyone buy second hand at the moment as it's mental, although it's a faff to track down something new. Of course what people ask and what people pay is not the same thing but looking on ebay is a shocker.

My 2009 P7 recently failed and would have liked another but they (bike w /Tora forks) seem to have climbed from £100-£200 used (I paid £120 back in 2018) to an eye-watering £500-£600 in 2020-2021

Rusty nonsense.

Quick ebay search of “On-One frame”. Turns out no 456’s but a few Inbreds.

If it helps, I think that's one of the 456 frames that had the wrong stickers on it. I had one of that batch in that color. Top tube looks to big to be a standard inbred.

Sold it for £80 about a decade ago!

In which case....

What would a 2 year old Radon Swoop 170, full XT, Magura Mt5 Lyric RC2 and Monarch Plus, newish rear Newman wheel, carbon USE bars...

About to put on new tyres, new saddle, new grips and has full new bearings.

Poor cosmetic condition (lots of rubs and scratches) with some protection tape needing removing and replacing.

One of these.

Cheers, but it's the wrong size, and I'd want a 20" ( I think that one's a 16").

Yeah, I sold mine for I think £50 (having bought it for £150), about a decade ago too. I will not be paying north of £200 to get another one...

I'm actually dreading selling our now surplus 20" hotrock, it's done sterling service, it's had a number of upgrades, but it's a bit more to my girls tastes and recent eBay interactions have made me realize that people paying over the odds to grab something during a time of scarcity can have some unrealistic expectations.

I don't think I have the patience for it all, can I keep it and ride it round the garden instead...

It's not me you are negotiating with.

The owner in question is born in Yorkshire, lives in Scotland and is known for attracting money. Deep Pockets, Short Arms as they say.

Bought a few bikes and sold quite a lot more over the last 12 months. I think everything I have sold has been at a reasonable price and I haven't added anything on due to the circumstances. Most of the stuff I haven't had to advertise

I have been looking for some 26" Pike DJs for Abigales bike for a while. Most of the 2nd hand ones have been in bad condition but have been selling for silly money. New ones were like hens teeth. Finally found some that were good and although were more than they would normally go for snapped them up.

Apart from a few things the stuff we have left will be kept for spares just in case we need something

I’ve just seen that a bike I was considering selling are, on eBay auction, going for double what I thought it was worth.

Not really a consideration any more...

Could do with a 2nd hand 83mm crankset really.
Things are going that far i reckon i could build up my old cove socket and flog it.
I sold my old carbon covert for less than i could have recently but it went to someone who was going to live riding it so can't see any reason to make a major profit

Weirdly fat bikes seem oddly immune from all this, which is annoying as I fancy a stooge and have an unridden one in the shed I built from parts over lockdown.

I have a lovely kingdom vendetta for sale at the moment which has had limited interest but I’m avoiding eBay and pink bike for now.

Obviously the frame itself is the star of the show, I was worried that if I stripped it to sell the frame I would be stuck with all of the parts.

However this thread is making me think selling a xt drivetrain, Magura Byron dropper and almost new lyrik forks might not be too hard a task.

Magura Byron dropper

Bet using that is like poetry in motion.

It varies, I’m selling a carbon ht at the moment plus wheelset but will take standard 29, priced up to sell possibly at the max I will get and had quite a few offers half of what it’s worth, so prices might be right but people aren’t necessarily buying.

You can still get recent expensive bikes at good prices, lockdown impulse buys.

Its old expensive bikes (that we would consider obsolete) that are making eye raising prices, and used "Best in test value" bikes like the aforementioned Bossnuts and Vitus Nucleus are making close to or over their new prices.

I think its a new generation of buyer that doesn't realise an older expensive make is rubbish to ride, and have a limited budget so the newer expensive bikes are out of reach, or may have researched and decided on a bossnut or nucleus but find them out of stock so buy used.

Get your old junk sold quick, and buy those late model impulse buys!

I have a 2015 trance, hardly used with a ton of barely used parts on it (mattocs, hope brakes, fox transfer etc)

Before lockdown I thought I’d get about 800 quid for it but I’d rather keep it than sell for that.

Given the ridiculous prices for bikes nowadays, I’m seriously tempted to stick it on eBay for 1500 quid and see if I get any bites

I sold two bikes in February last year. Gutted, could’ve raked it in a few months later.

I’m desperately looking for a small full sus for my daughter for the summer and there is NOTHING around for anywhere sensible money.
Waiting for a bargain to pop up and they just don’t seem to exist anymore or sell within minutes of being posted.
It’s a bugger.

How small? I've got a medium 2010 Cotic Hemlock frame in the garage which in 2021 is definitely a small- fairly short, tons of standover clearance. Frame only but it's in good nick. I wasn't planning on selling but it'd be nice to get it to a good home.

Agreed, a while ago I thought about changing my 26" inbred to the 29er version. Frame and bike prices were nuts. So I spent the money getting mine repainted and replacing some of the tattier bits.

Open to offers above £750 😉
