You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Coming upto mountain mayhem, having been and ridden in the dark a few times with just a bar mounted light, i really want a decent helmet light so i can actually see around corners too. I have tried a Fenix 125 lumen torch on the lid which helps, but the battery life is too short for anything like mayhem.
I have been looking at an exposure, probably a diablo as i could also use it as a bar light on my roadie.
Any other good helmet lights i should look out for? preferably with the batteries in them.
Here is a Helemt light but it runs on an external battery pack.
I might consider a loan for the event. PM me if you're interested.
😉
I use a Lupine pico http://www.pedalon.co.uk/acatalog/piko_helmet.html
separate battery but it straps to the helmet and the whole lot weighs very little. can be used with a bar mount too.
It's a lovely light - great beam, long battery life at full power (I just put it on full at the beginning of a ride and leave it there).
Oh, and the head unit look fabulous too.
thanks for the suggestions. Luminous YGM.
that lupine does look very good. How have you got the battery pack attached to your helmet?
there's a velcro strap - put battery on the back of the hat and the light on the front.
there's a great video review here;
Ay-ups, You can either buy a single set, or invest in one of the expedition packs and split between a couple of you. Other benefit is you can have one battery on charge while the other is in use.
The expedition pack comes with two sets of lights, 3 batteries, a whole range of chargers, mounts (bar and helmet) and even a head torch strap. The things are even waterproof !!! While the batteries are not built in the half pack battery is plenty small enough to tuck anywhere.
I've had mine a couple of years now, and use them for absolutely everything.
Hi I have a Diablo which I primarily use on the road bike. Very good (get the rear light plug in too) and light. However short battery life at Max power.
I have a Lumicycle too- which is super bright but slightly heavy.
The Four4th is worth considering too. Lots of the guys I ride with have them. Very small light unit and battery.
