I went to set up tubeless on my new road bike today. I approached it with confidence, wondering which of the many tricks and manouvres that I've learned over the years I'd have to employ. Would I need to soapily wrestle the bead over the rim? Would I need an extra run of tape to get things seated? Would I dare to put that few extra PSI into the tubeless bong to get the bead finally seated?

Nope. Both tyres on nice and easy and went up first time with a track pump.

Where is my sense of achievement?

Robbed.

I feel your disappointment,  had same last year. Bought bargain Vitus, built myself up to converting to tubeless and it was a 10 minute job, felt robbed.

Enjoy while it lasts. You've jinxed it now, first ride out something catastrophic is going to happen 😆

Everybody gets one of those occurances in their lifetime. I hope you enjoyed it as you have now used yours and will spend the rest of your life wrestling tyres on, sweating, swearing and throwing tools 😜

I had that when I fitted Specialized tyres on my Sonder Alpha rims. The tyres went on without a fight, inflated with a track pump and have been fine ever since.

It's such an anticlimax after the build up to the task.

Fitting Panaracer Gravel King tyres on Giant P-X2 rims though. That's an entirely different experience. 😡 🤬

I swear Giant built their fortune by shaving a few mm off every single rim they've ever produced; I've always found them to be tighter than anything else.

I have a pair of tyres that did that on a bike I'm building. They seem to have lost no pressure in 2 weeks despite having no sealant.

My first go at tubeless I put tubes in after a month as my mental health was definitely suffering. Those wheels still have tubes 🙁

I've found that having Cushcore in actually make tubeless go up easier. No faffing with an inflator, just a normal track pump.

Just had ANOTHER faff free tyre go on my gravel bike. I’m not saying I’m a magical superhero now but I’m also not not saying that.

You may be great with tyres but I think you got your bars and saddle mixed up... or something 🤔

Which tyres ? I found the gp5000 AS ones to be a pig to get on - it was either the tyres were inflexible or the rims were wide. When I put the normal gp5000's on my aluminium hope rims last year (grave bike,) they were easy. The vision carbon 32mm wide rims were a challenge

So today i went to add sealant. The free valves from Hope didn’t have removable cores. So out came the tyre levers….
