I just happened to pass Planet X/On One today, like you do! 😉
I have a full bouncer 29er that I love.
I have a fully rigid 29er that I also love.
But, I would love something much faster for more road stuff, but not a road bike, I suppose something in between.
I want this because it would complete my bikes and because I want one!
I haven't got the money and the wife would not understand, but I would love to here your thoughts.

I think you've already made up your mind. Show your wife this thread, I'm sure she'll understand. If not, buy it anyway and THEN show your wife this thread.

😀

Chainslapper!

I got my leg over a big medium! 😉
Did you go into the showroom or was it just a flying visit for the frame?

Just picked up the frame Tim and had to get back ASAP.

That looks really good. Do you know anyone that needs one off your kidneys?

Logos are self adhesive and can be installed/removed as desired.

Hey Brant, why haven't you changed the spec on the On One web site re the changes to the Scandal we discussed. Picked up my frame today and you were true to your word and all the changes to the latest design are there. 😀

It's pretty good. Mainly a commuter that blasts me along the towpath and a bit of singletrack exploring on the way home. Very comfortable and the road bb7's are ace. Finish is spot on.

Looks great but it doesn't have guard eyelets does it? For something a lot of people may want to commute on that seems a bit of a mistake.

Thinking i need one as well...but have same problem of the wife not understanding. The last time i sneaked a bike in the garage nothing was said; when i went to ride it saddle was missing!! cue grovelling.
Apparently the next time i forget to mention a new bike other "things" will go missing.
Just going to on one site now.....

when i went to ride it saddle was missing

Fortunately, my wife wouldn't be able to remove a saddle unaided. I'd probably just be shouted at for some time instead, tbh.

I've always found that replacing one frame with another the same colour ALWAYS goes unnoticed. So working on this, get an on-one the same colour as one of your current bikes....

Yep done the changing frame thing and got away with it (have upgraded both road bikes this way), but its the adding another extra bike that gets noticed. When i go into a bike shop my 6 year old always says "dont forget you have 4 bikes and cant have any more!"
I now need a cunning plan as i REALLY want/need this on one, and in two weeks i am in Sheffield with an afternoon to kill, which is now going to be spent dribbling in the on one shop.

I have a garage and 2 sheds.

It's like a game of spot which cup the pea is under in our house when I get a new bike.

Yep, women are eeeeevil. If my bf got one of these without getting me one first I would be well p*ssed off. 😆

As I serial CX bike stalker they're a good deal - a couple of friends have them and in my opinion the full build is a bit on the heavy side for a carbon bike, so obviously you will need new wheels too. 😉

CX bikes are ace for blatting around bridleways that are a bit dull on a mountain bike - you can go stupid fast on them. Discs good for this kind of use - I love my CX but I seem to get through brake pads at a fearsome rate - the Mary Towneley loop can sand them off in one go.

I'm going to get the wife drunk tonight and then I'll mention that I would love this bike! I can only dream of another bike in the garage at the moment because I'm having to spend more than the £2k required to buy the bike on a 2 week holiday! 😕 Or well, Xmas not that far away! 😀

whats the gearing - the cassettes 12-25 what about the front 36-46?

will be tough for trail riding if so.

Just a thought. There is some quite good riding close to Sheffield, you could take one of your other bikes and maybe ride that instead of wasting it looking at one. 😉

Sadly i will be unable to take a bike for this trip, for various reasons, but have NEVER had a problem spending a few hours in a bike shop before. Just touching and lusting, almost as good as riding!!
