Particularly my Lezyne one with the solid tool compartment on the back.

Why aren't tubes, tools, patches, etc etc kept in pouches on the shoulder straps/waistband? No need to take off the pack to fix a puncture then? A bit like those things the army wear, but less bulky.

TINAS seen yesterday

If you mean 'webbing' then not a lot on the shoulder straps - more focused on the waistband. I am seeing more and more side pouches / pockets on hydration bags than before. Given you need tyre levers, patch / tube and pump, that would need quite a few zips and pouch openings / closings wouldn't it?

Pretty much, just occured to me that for 90% of trail side repairs it might make life easier, especialy as my helmet light has its battery in the backpack so means removing my lid (and light) to do any repairs.

Some have little pockets on the waist like the Camelback Octane. Which is a great idea.

If I am having to stop and do a trail side repair it doesn't seem much hassle to remove backpack , also easier to work on bike without a backpack, easily accessible pockets are a bonus for jelly babies and other trail snacks

Wingnut, big side pouches, brilliant idea.

unfortunatley my pump is in the main compartment so punctures still involve debagging unless I have an accomplice

edit wingnut has webbing too for easy access sweeties. Also midride pastry products can be stashed there without the worry of them getting crushed 🙂

Saddle pack and pump on the bike for puncture repairs?

I think if you added loads of webbing, pockets & straps it would create lots of potential snagging points for branches & stuff.

I know what you mean though about it being a pain to take your pack off when your helmet light battery is in the bag. Especially when you forget & it all goes a bit tangled & confused....

yep, Wingnut here too. Fit my pump to the frame sometimes or carry a CO2 when being lazy, so no rooting around.
