So, I've taken the plunge and bought some stuff to build my new wheels.
pro2 and 717s, I've got a jig from a mate, I've got sheldons guide, watched the youtube guides etc, and think I've got my head around it. I'm usually quite good at fiddly stuff like this, but never had a go at a wheel.
any tips/wisdom/internet resources that I should look for?
bits get delivered next week....
sheldon is great, jobst is thorough, but i swear by roger musson's book. it's downloadable and worth every penny imho.
as fer tips, esp. with dished mtb wheels: do more de-stressing than you think you need and get the spokes as tight as you can...though, within safety parameters.
fwiw, i'm more of a do it by feel and sound (plucking) than by cold hard numbers.
but i still might buy a tension tool. maybe.
steady as she goes. sort the spokes out, and you can't go far wrong, nice even tension, small adjustments on trueing.
