Anyone used these tyres? Looking for something to replace a WTB Trail Boss that's struggling a bit on Tweed style trails in the wet. Would be paired with a Vigilante up front on a hardtail.

Initially thought of getting another Vigilante for the back, but the Gilas are much cheapness. I can only find one Spanish review, it was quite complimentary as an all rounder tyre but perhaps Spanish wet isn't quite the same as Scottish...

Always had good experience with Hutchinsons - not used the Gila but looks like an update of the Cougar - used them to do an Alps crossing years ago, they were great! Reckon it'd be similar to a Trail Boss, - they're not that good in the wet, are they...

I think you're right re: Cougar, I think it says as much on their website. Good to know you've had good experiences the older version.

Regarding the Vigilantes, all I can say is I don't expect much grip sliding down a muddy chute on a hardtail so it meets my requirements that way. 🙂 The Trailboss does well for what it is, but clogs into a muddy donut eventually.
