Hunt Wheels - am I being thick?

I've bought some Hunt Proven Carbon Trail H-Core wheels - reduced to £850.

Getting aside from everyone saying 'what have you bought Hunts for?' - they ask you what end caps you want and can specify RS Torque caps, so I did.

Their hubs are Centre Lock

Torque caps don't fit with Centre Lock as far as I can see.

I've got the wheels fitted, sans Torque Caps, but what was the point in offering them, never mind sending them?

Yes, decking etc...

It seems that the rotor needs to be removed to allow the end cap to be fitted:

Well torque caps are wide at the fork interface, maybe wider than a centrelock mount (haven't got both to hand right now)...so disks on first then torque caps after?

The Torque cap is a larger diameter than the hole in the lockring

Are your lock rings the older style that tighten with a cassette tool? If so you'll need those that go on with an HT2 style tool.

seem to recall the disc side cap on my proven wheels was a 2 piece affair  ! disc off, smaller bit in the wheel, disc on, fit bigger bit - or something along those lines .... 😉

Glad it's sorted. Did you weight the wheels before installation by any chance?

No - daughter has nicked my luggage scales

But I seem to have saved around 300g total fully built up vs my 1851g (claimed) Horizon Pro's when built up on the bathroom scales - 150g of that is an XTR cassette vs SLX though

Um, why shouldn't one be buying Hunts? (sorry, I don't come here very much and miss out on things)

If say I was thinking of upgrading my Hope wheels with something lighter and probably carbon, what's the received wisdom on that?

I think there were some questionable QC issues/failures a while back, but these may/may not have been sorted. There is some sort of lifetime warranty on these rims including crashing - although I've not read up on the finer details.

These weigh a claimed 1732g vs the 1851g of the Nukeproof Horizon Pro's they are replacing. The XC version are quite a bit lighter.

They certainly seem to zip up to speed nicely riding up and down my road.

I have been warned off cheaper carbon rims for various reasons but here we are....

I've got 4 pairs of Hunts. Yes you can buy direct from China, probly cheaper, but I like dealing on shore with people I can call if I need to. The wheels have been fine, no issues. Light, decent value, well built and long lasting - so far. I'll buy from them again when (if) I need some more.
