I know there's been a lot of negative posts about dents in the 30 mm rims.
Are the 25:mm ones ok?
Any gripes about the hubs?
Looking at these..
I use those very ones on my HT- prior to that, they were on the CX bike for 2 years. Been flawless, and go up tubeless with the right tyres very easily. I'm running a 2.3" Minion DHF/DHR combination just now, no issues.
Hunt are great to deal with too- I needed different thru-axle adapters for the front when I moved them from CX to MTB. I think these were about £10 direct from Hunt, arrived in 24 hours, fitted in seconds.
I've had 2 pairs of Hunt wheels since 2017 and have just ordered a 3rd pair for my new gravel bike. The two i've had since 2017 have been used and abused a lot and have faired very well indeed. The bearings are still as silky smooth as the day I bought them. I highly rate them as do many others
I've just got a set of Trail Wides.
The hubs are really fast, the bike genuinely rolls quicker.
The one thing that surprised was they aren't very loud. Lots of people said they as loud as Hope but my set are much quieter than the Mavic they replaced
I've got the XC Wides on my Solaris Max and they've been faultless. Got Hunt wheels on my other bikes as well and also been faultless.
I'm sure one of the regular Hunt haters will appear soon though to tell you how they're just Novatech hubs on catalogue rims etc and you can build your own set for about £150.
I wouldnt hesitate to recommend Hunt wheels in any guise, i have 2 sets of trail wides one 27.5 on a hardtail and a 29er on a full suss.
Had no issues with either, the hardtail did a day at bike park wheels and survived with no dents, im a heavy rider at a little under 100kg's fully kitted up and not the smoothest rider.
I did manage to break a spoke but as you get spares with the wheel then replacing it was nice and simple.
Took the rear apart to service the hub and bearings and it all looked clean and tidy inside after 18 months of what can only be called abuse and looked as fresh as a daisy.
And if you do have an issue, then Hunt are excellent to deal with.
Emailed Superstar to ask what their delivery times are on Wednesday. Still not heard back.
Hunt got my money.
Ive had a pair of XC Wides on my full susser for the last month, its early days and I'm interested to see how they handle being run through the Winter but first imperssions are that they seem to be solid, light and well made. Freehub pick-up is very good (surprisingly so) and I quite like the noise they make too. Only issue is if they're not in stock, delivery can be a bit slow at the moment.
I had a set and found swapping from Arch MK3 wheels (same weight) the deeper rim profile was flexier side to side and harsher over bumps. Real pain to set up tubeless partly because they hadn't applied the tape correctly, which split when inflated, and the supplied tubeless valves didn't really fit the inner shape of the rim so wouldn't seal properly. I ended up with my own tape and valve in the rear wheel and going back to the Stans front wheel as the Hunt felt so vague. Obviously that's a bit pointless so I returned them. Hubs seemed nice and had a steel freehub so no cassette marks. Hunt were good to deal with.
What size rims did you have?
Set of 29er Trailwides on my SolarisMax since February.
Have been very happy with them, light enough, roll very well and far far lighter than the wheels they replaced.
Cracked the rear in early July on a 30 miler in the Peak, at least it was after that ride I noticed it. Not a rough ride by any means and they were still rolling well with the crack (about 6 or 7 mm down from the rim & parallel with it for about 15 cm, running across the weld I think.
Hunt were excellent, had the choice of them collecting the wheel, re-rimming it & return, or sending me a rim and reimbursing me for a re-rim at a local shop.
I opted to be sent a rim - arrived after couple of weeks (rims were out of stock).
Still waiting for the local shop to do the work though 🙂
Mine were 25mm XC Wide, non-boost. Last year's but doesn't look like they have been changed.
Ive had a set of xc wide on my hardtail for just over a year. They have been great. Easy to tubeless, true, stayed true.
I’ve snapped a spoke on the front when a twig got proper stuck at speed- nothing was going to survive that.
I pulled a spoke nipple through the rear rim. I don’t know how. It arrived back from hunt this morning and they have also replaced the free hub pawls.
Easy to talk to about the warranty, they stood behind their product.
10/10 would buy again.
Thanks hunt!
