Anyone on here run Hunt wheels? Get very good reviews from the bike mags and websites.
Seems to be a great build for a good price. Bit of a wait if ordered though.
I’ve got their road wheels but not the mountain bike ones.
Like them so far - I bashed one up on the mother of all pot holes (actually bruised both big toes it was so bad) - they did a replacement rim for 30% off as a crash replacement - and it arrived within just a couple of days of ordering.
How easy are the tyres to get on or off?
How long has Mr Hunt been building wheels, or is it just a made up name buying stuff from the Far East and slapping a nice sticker on it?
The local bike shop set them up (with tubes for now) - I had one puncture and I got the tyre off one side to get the tube out easily enough. It was a bit of a fight to get it back on again - but it’s a not very good road tyre (and I always find road tyres a fight anyway).
The hunts did arrive tubeless ready including tape done and valves but I haven’t bought tubeless tyres for them yet. When my current ones wear out I’ll probably go tubeless at that point.
For mtb I’ve got DT Swiss E1900s and I find those very good. I get Maxxis tyres on and off those no problem and they go up tubeless fine too.

Go go to the Hunt Wheels website… read who builds the wheels… who supplies the spokes… who… etc, etc. Full transparency. Don't be a dick.
Yes, plus even though the Hunt wheels aren’t built in the UK (I don’t think they are anyway) they are handbuilt I believe.
Thinking of ordering a set of these for an XC build now, rather than scouring eBay and getting fobbed off by time wasters 🙂

I'm not trying to be a dick, I'm asking about a company who I'd never heard of until six months ago who seem to be gaining a foothold in the market.
However, after your lovely invitation to do so, I have visited the site.
Hand built wheels built by a company with a made up name buying stuff from the Far East?
I need a new pair of road wheels, I'll see how the prices compare to my local builder.
Any better?
For what it is worth, I've been using the 4 Seasons Disc wheelset since they were launched, and they've been solid. Communication with the people at the company (with a "made up name") was brilliant, and they got on with sourcing 9mm thru axle end caps for me (presumably from the "Far East"). Standard item now I believe. Well built wheels. Good service.
So fanboy accuses non fanboy of being a dick.
Deletes part where he says your being a dick.
Awesome ambassador for Hunt wheels there ,coincidentally who I also hadnt heard of but it seems you need to be a dick as an entry requirement to own a pair , if the shoe fits and all that?
Can say based on the website I m actually more aquainted with the fact they all seem to have a degree and wax lyrically about that, than much info about their product .
Smacks a bit of elitist nobendery really.
Ps review on here of six sets of carbon wheels a wee while ago
Thread reminds me of this...
I've just set up a set of the 650b road wheels tubeless with WTB Horizons. Easiest tubeless set-up I've done, no fighting, struggling or swearing. Of course the MTB wheels might be completely different.
No axe to grind either way (but I am a dick) but the road wheelsets are C+ value for money winners - £350 for sub 1500g wheels seems like a good deal to me. 1650g for 29er wheels looks equally good, they were already on the list for my next build.
Based on their road wheel weights *always* seemingly too be....optimistic......to the tune of 100 grams or so.....you might want to check the real weights before buying
I have been running 4 season gravel disc wheels for nearly a year. They're ok, but if I had my time again I'd build something myself of better quality and similar weight. They look ok, but all the components have weakness.
The rims are pinned, not welded, which would of been a deal breaker if I'd have known. I think every pinned rim I've ever owned has failed at the joint. The ironic exception is the hunt rim which I massively dented. Because the rims are asymmetric you are kind of tired to them as replacements without new spokes and a complete rebuild. £60 for a replacement rim is expensive.
The hubs are basic Novatech, and as such probably aren't worth rebuilding. The sealing isn't great.
The spokes are rubbish. Decidedly lower quality than DT or Sapim. My wheels were built super tight, with threadlock on the nipples. I had to cut a spoke and replace it when rebuilding because the nipple wasn't coming off.
I like the weight. They work well tubeless, and I have no issue with removing tyres.
The spoke key included is cack.
Communication and support from the company has been good.
