I fancy some fancy hubs. Currently thinking DT or Onyx. Does anyone offer anything in a hub that isn't already covered off by one of the above?

Options feel quite limited when think about it.

While the rest of the world drools over Hope hubs, in the UK... 🙂

Always had hope and never had any bother with them. Just fancied treating myself to something flashy - but only if it gives something over and above.

Tune don't seem that well supported in the UK although I don't know too much about them. Project 321 seem to be offering the quite freehub which is appealing, but is it better than onyx?

King hubs look delicious in matte punch but I hear mixed reviews regarding servicing and drag.

Got dt 350s on my cx which are super smooth. Currently Building some Chris kings on to new 29r rims now. They’ll be smooth too as I’ve had the hubs over 10 years now! Got some Hopes and they are lush too. Don’t see why to go elsewhere

The thing with Hope is they just seem to work and on rare occasions, they don't you have Hope's excellent customer service.

Hope are actually pretty competitive with the DT 350 now, still a wee bit heavier and not as well sealed, but better pickup as standard, slightly higher quality bearings fitted, and cheaper parts if you need them (the bearing thing is a bit of give and take, in the UK weather I'd rather have DT's sealing and the slightly cheaper bearings they put in the 350, if you were somewhere dry maybe the other way round)

Hope still don't even try and compete with the 240 though. But then the price of new 240s is mad.

As ever, with Hope everyone's had a good customer service experience or knows someone who has. But DT, nobody knows how good their customer service is for hubs, because nobody ever has to use it. That's better, of course, it just doesn't generate goodwill.

I've Industry9 hubs on my fat bike. they're fine. Just as loud as Hopes. Mine are the older 6deg pickup not the new 2deg - I think those are the figures.

Onyx's selling points are near silent freehub (well you won't hear it above the noise of tyre on dirt) and as near instant pickup as you are likely to get this side of fixed drive. Oh, if you order direct then they'll laser etch whatever graphic you want on to the hub!

I know, I've done the same myself. 🙂

I've had White Industries and Pauls and don't think they are over and above.

But shiny, shiny... 🙂

I wouldn't look at the new 180 Ratchet EXP hubs they just launched then. 🙂

They are bonkers light though, 275 grams a pair in Boost.
