I'm struggling to drift out the sealed bearings in my rear QR Superstar Switch Evo hub (no hating or "told you so" please - use all the other threads!). Has anyone managed to do this successfully?

I've managed full suss bearing changes and pro 2 conversions and services so I hope this doesn't beat me. There's no lip to drift out the bearings from the opposite side with a hammer and flat head, so I've tried improvising a press with a g-clamp and socket set to no avail.

Incidentally, the bearings failed after 4 months use, no jet washing, and are clean but notchy as hell. Is it possible they are misaligned or put in with enough brute force and arrogance that the bearings flattened?

TIA

Did mine on Wednesday before a night ride thanks to Katec for the swift postage of some replacement bearings.. I assume you've removed cassette, freehub, end caps and axle? Use a screwdriver to push the spacer between the bearings to one side, this may require a little persuasion. Support the hub on blocks and drift out the bearings after removing the seal (drive side). Use a suitably sized socket to insert the new bearings. Similar deal for the freehub bearings, though I have not done mine as I'm going for the steel freehub when these go. Glad it's a lot cheaper than the hope one I just replaced! (and it lasted a comparable amount of time ~ 1.5 years inc an occasional strip and regrease.)

Dan - cheers, I did search the forum but the force is clearly weak in this one. I had it in my head that they were based on Halo hubs.

Neil - yup, cassette, freehub, end cap and axle removed. I think it's the separating the bearing from the spacer - not being persuasive enough. Thanks for the advice, will give it beans tomorrow morning.
