Do ht frames with a 142*12axle still exist?

I'm in the market for a full bike (HT) but can't be doing with ****y boost standards.

Mainly as I'd like to be able to swap parts between bikes.

I really like the look of the Marin San Quentin but that's got a rearhub standard I've never even heard of!

I could potentially just buy a frame and parts but it's expensive.

Most frustrating.

Any ideas from the hive mind? Got up to about 1.2k to spend but less is better.

Cheers!

Mark

I think you'll struggle with anything from 2018-19, but a quick search on one site for 2017 bikes brings up these...

Marin Nail Trail:

Production Privee Shan or Oka. 142x12 - 27.5 or 26", but you'd struggle to buy one complete I think.

There are still some 2017 Saracen Mantra carbon frames for sale for around £500.

Stanton all have swappable dropouts so you can run 142x12 or boost.

Some dartmoors do. (Hornet & Primal)
Good reliable frames and priced where a mass produced hardtail frame should be too.

Might help if you narrowed down what sort of hardtail you're after.

Boost 141 innit. Like standard (hahahahahahaha... breathe... hahahahahahahahaha... breathe... etc) 148x12 Boost but QR instead, so 141x10, in the same way that 135x10 is to 142x12. I suspect it was dragged in to use frame/wheel parts up.

A decent robust HT for razzing in the woods.

The bird looks good but as I'm not flush I like the idea of the cheapie full build with a decent frame n buying some decent second hand forks for it before it gets built and replacing stuff as it breaks.

Dartmoor primal looks ok but the completes are expensive

A Stanton would be nice but well out of the price range.

Dee dar is so heavy it has its own gravity field. And the geometry is a bit old skool - I'd like closer to 430 reach on a medium.

Thanks all. I'll have a think.

These two frames when they come into stock could be good. Looks like they are 142 according to the blurb - £300 not a bad price:

Nothing wrong with the Bird Zero TR for me, don't think £300 for it is bad either. You're gonna struggle paying less than that without going 2nd hand.
Those Ragley frames linked to above for £300 are out of stock.

Pinnacle iroko “if” you can find one. I bought a second hand iroko four 2 years back with full intention of swapping the full xt and pike over to a more boutique frame. Never happened as the iroko is a very very well made capable/light frame 🙂

Cotic Bfe is still 142mm rear end. New full build is over budget but a 'classifieds build' should be managable.

I’m thinking about selling my 2016 canyon Grand Canyon which has 142x12. Its a carbon 100mm 29er though which might not be what you’re looking for.

Needs to be a jumpy fun ht.

Why is the stif so expensive? You can nearly buy 2 bird zeros for the price of the full build! Madness.

dartmoor 4X then

it's 135x12 and 26" though so you'll need new wheels
(and a long dropper if you want to ride it sat down, (mine runs a 250mm drop KS)

Geex - given my NS eccentric has just been stolen i need a whole bike let alone new wheels!

i dont want a dirt jumper as i need 'A decent robust HT for razzing in the woods' now i know the 4x would be ideal for razzing the downs but i also need to pedal it as we are not blessed with either dirt jumps or big hills here on teh south coast.

i loved my NS loads it was a good balance of fun and small. i could easily do 30 miles on it and also throw it about a bit on teh few jumps we do have and ity was decent on singletrack.

i suppose i could by a Privee shan and strip teh big bike untill i can afford parts as and when...

there are a few of them jackpot frames on ebay - interesting.

I`m 6ft geex - i prefer a 17" ish frame rather than the normally recommended gatelike 18 or 19"

If i was a shortarse a 4x frame would be easy.

I might get a medium bird TR and pillage the parts of of teh big bike to make it work 26 for now. If i go to wales i`ll either take the HT or build the big bike back up. But the L privee on ebay is also interesting and well posh but shorter reach.

Bit of a marmite frame looks-wise, but you can easily size up on the Trailstar due to the low standover height for a longer reach.

I'm 'only' 6ft and on the XL frame. Built up for about £1100 (though I had a few bits in stock already).
