Does such a thing exist? My Dad overdid the cycling in lockdown 1 and ended up in hospital (he was going out everyday as it was sunny and he didn't have much else to do). Doctors think it was accumulated fatigue + dehydration. He has a home BP device to check his blood pressure as it's low, I've offered him my garmin and heart strap so he can monitor his HR whilst cycling but think he's a bit paranoid about his blood pressure as well. He's 80 and loves cycling but think the hospital visit (he was in for 2 nights) has knocked his confidence and made him worry a bit so think he'd be reassured by being able to easily measure both metrics.
Thanks
There are a couple of watches around which have a built in cuff but not sure how well it would work for someone active.
Some companies have come up with a way to measure without needing the cuff but it still seems fairly early days so not many offering it yet.
Asus and Samsung have watches which do it.
IANAD but Shirley his BP should be recorded when "resting" not active?
Good shout about measuring BP when resting will get him to speak to the doc/cardio person.
Will look into Samsung watches.
Thanks
I wouldn't trust any commercially available BP monitor in someone active. Some struggle to measure on static punters never mind riding a bike!
He'd be better keeping an eye on how he feels and if hr monitor helps him then great. Brilliant that he's so active, like rest of us easy get over enthusiastic in the good weather.
Not what you asked but a cheap ebike would allow him to ride when he wants and reduce the workload on his heart.
thanks for the replies, he keeps joking about getting an ebike when he's older but I'll mention it to him. I think once he can ride with his club mates again it will take his mind off it a bit and also stop my mum and us worrying about him going out on his own.

I was playing with a medical one when my wife was recovering from an op, I unplugged her and had a go myself - huge variability in BP between consecutive readings.
I think I remembered to reconnect her before she came round.....
