Havn't ridden there for a while and just wondered how the woods had held up to the winds and rain? Drove through a while back and noticed there was felling on the Aspley Wood side, is it decimated now?
There were a couple of sections closed due to dropped trees when I was last up there.
It's been dry for a couple of days now so will be riding fine I would guess.
Was up there walking the dog at the weekend wishing I had my bike!!
Was there today
Still a few big puddles, but mostly fine
Trees down in a few places though - especially where there's been felling
I hear that the Woburn Bike Trails volunteer group who have been the driving force behind the permissive trails have had to hand everything over to the Greensand Trust, and won't be able to contribute to managing or arrange volunteering anymore.
Does anyone know what changed?
Seen that, no idea what the reasons are, but quite worrying tbh
Wanted to go last week, but website said the xc was closed due to fallen trees. I'm assuming the website is just out of date but didn't want to risk it. Load of YouTube on recent works at the dirt jumps so they look to be open.
I was wondering about the changes. I also heard a rumour that the Green Sands trust don’t want to manage the jumps any more.
Xc is indeed open, a couple of downed trees in places, which I suppose won't be cleared now
Anyone got a chainsaw?
How big are the trees?
A quick bump on this. For anyone who’s been up to Woburn in the past couple of weeks they may have seen that both the park and the permissive trails are currently closed - the former due to alleged unauthorised digging, and the latter due to storm damage (despite the trails now being clear).
Rumour has it that relationships between the volunteers who maintained the trails and the land owners (Greensands Trust) have broken down, that the volunteers have handed over ongoing care to Greensands Trust, but that Greensands have little or no interest in keeping the trails open. This could result in all of the all of the trails returning to non-permissive, and the park being flattened.
As above, this is all rumour, but what’s definite right now is that the trails and the park are closed until further notice, and worryingly refunds are being issued to those who’ve paid for permits.
For me and many others, the trails at Woburn represent community and sanity. I don’t know if it will make any difference, but if you want Woburn to stay, could you take a minute and sign this petition:

thanks
Done
Signed and shared to local riding groups yesterday (we're about 45 minutes up the road in Northants).
Done!
