Has the practice day convinced anyone to pack up and go home early?

I am buckled 😆 Didn't even do all the stages, decided I'd rather be fresh tomorrow. It is hard though imo, very physical stages, really wish I was coming into it fitter. Not a gentle start to the year. And that bloomin wind! Ripped the legs off me coming down the minch, wish I hadn't bothered with that one.

Kind of regretting the hardtail 😆

So, eh, stage 3. What's that like then? I can't for the life of me figure out where it goes or what it does- saw where it crossed the climb to the top of the minch where young Peter was marshalling, and I could see tape further down, I guess it just goes along the trailcentre then round to the start of stage 4?

Oh aye, anyone else's number board blow off? I was hoping it might end up stuck to some competent rider's bike

stage 3 goes through some fog, bog, wind and puddles and joins the trail centre xc to the end of the silly fast straightline bit at the fireroad. very pedally. top section isn't very exciting, just follows a quad track/path type thing.

Cheers!

Was that you I passed on the way down to the classic btw? Someone shouted my name, I shouted hi back despite having no earthly idea who it was.

1 = Alastair lees into mince baby mince
2 = pre and prospacker
3 = walkers path off Minch moor into end of normal Minch moor descent
4 = plora Craig into the classic
5 = matador into middle bit into cresta into mix at the very bottom

All good. Wind was horrific today though its supposed to be calmer tomorrow

yeah that was me shouting your name, I didn't realise it was you until after I'd passed you so you didn't have much chance of figuring it out!

Oh well, what I thought was just cramp yesterday was my ITB flaring up, no riding today 🙁 Hope y'all had a good day!

S2 got cancelled. Guy dislocated his arm on the really steep bit of prospacker. Times ruined for anyone behind on track so they scrapped it. Can't say I'm complaining as I was having a howler on the flat boggy traverse. Other than that it was a cracking day.

I'm so destroyed after that, fitness not up to it yet, was very tired after yesterday and bonked after stage 3. Good fun but really hard work in that mud! Shame about stage 2, hope the guy was OK, seems it was a long time before he was away in the scrambulance.

Good if a bit of an odd day. Found Stage 1 just too much like tricky concrete (consistency of the mud today on A Lees). Bike so clogged up cos stoopid me had a too close fitting mudguard. Never had so much gloop clog up a bike before (or maybe need to man up and pedal harder)
Rest all good, really enjoyed the blast down Stage 5 at the end ... no interruptions, mechanicals ... just riding.
Strange 'non feed' feed station that had no water .. sidetracked by the various injuries and issues or something?
Lots of great folk about - thanks for the banter all ...

Yeah the feed station was poor. Mixed bags of rubbish and food with no water.

Also, whoever was driving the silver trafic/vivaro around the forest is an absolute arsehole. He drove straight at us at 25mph+ on the transition from s4 to s5. No horn sounded, lights flashed or even slightly reduced speed. We had to dive off the road to avoid him.

The land rover ambulance sounded amazing. Definitely not a diesel under the bonnet. Sounded like a massive petrol v8

there was a injured person in a stretcher in the back of the silver van when it went past us between s4 and s5, don't think the ambulance went up, they had to take him to the ambulance.

yeah the land rover ambulance was petrol, smelt like a rally car and had a lot of poke!
