We're off for the weekend tomorrow - anyone know any closures we should watch for or conditions? Official website's none too timely.

Was there last Saturday and was told about a number of closures by riders on the Whites Level descents, which weren't even advertised at the Cafe.

We rode Penhydd, and Blade which were fully open.

The latest trail update suggests that the Energy section on Whites was going to be closed for maint/repairs for 3 weeks... that was 3/4 weeks ago but I would expect that section to be shut.

Everything else should be open with maybe a bit of forestry work on Skyline/Blade but not likely.

Will probably see you at some point, heading up Friday.

Blade was great fun on Saturday, really fast but that was before we had all the rain over the last few days...

Energy, Goodwood and Black Run on Whites are closed this week for maintenance. Not sure if they'll be open for the weekend.

This was from the South Wales MTB ranger 2 hours ago over of Facebook:

Quick update on the Whites Level trail maintenance work we are doing, the Energy section will reopen Friday next week. Goodwood and the Tyle (Black) sections will be the week after. Sorry for the delay but the weathers been playing havoc with us this week. We won't be re opening the boardwalk on Goodwood as its just not viable this year however we have some plans for some more 'shore style' riding on the trail!

Hope it helps.

Odd one this - got great advice from the dude at the MTB centre on Saturday who advised not doing Skyline due to closures, but doing W2 instead. First 2/3 was great, then either we got lost or got confused, because we were diverted away from the descent towards Whyte's Level, then all of the descents there were closed apart from the very last section.

So what was supposed to be a 44k ride ended up closer to 30, ending early, when energy levels weren't up to starting another loop. Is it being churlish to wonder why it's not easier to get up to date info on where you can ride?

The diversions you mention are exactly the ones that are mentioned above. Energy and Goodwood were closed.

A few minutes spent looking at the trail maps would have shown that if you had climbed back up the Whites climb you could easily have picked up the final Blade/Skyline descent which would have provided an excellent finish.

That's odd, I did W2 yesterday, followed the diversions and did 26.7 miles (including a play in the bikepark which probably accounted for about a mile)
