Currently running conventional XT mech and RaceFace NW 32T ring on my 29er Inbred.
I find I need to run a chain device up front as the chain will drop once or twice per ride.
Will a clutch mech mean I can lose the chain device?

Yep you'll be able to lose the chain device, I lovey clutch mech, I have sram on and it has a nifty switch to lock it out when removing the wheel.

You will have several near misses with trees when small rattling noises make you wonder if the clutch is actually on.
