how tough would a new rockhopper frame be.
to be used as a trail frame.
in comparison to a stiffee/456/hoss it feels very light.

would it be ok?

A mate of mine cracked the stays on his ('08) at the end of a full week of North Wales trail centre riding, playing catch up (scarily and admirably so!!) with 140mm trail bikes all week. Probably a fluke break but he was deffo riding it to the limit.

It's not stiffee/456 tough IMO...

Ton.

Not that tough, I wouldn't be doing any drops or big jump or even landing hard on them.

What do you want to do on the bike and how much is your budget?

Mine handled all 18 stone of me last year on Wharncliffe and FOD downhills. Tbh I did mince a lot of it though!

This is my mate on one. He cleared the table top (though maybe not in this photo) and rode DH on it all week in Morzine. 3 years in a row. As well as riding it week in week out. He killed his paces pretty convincingly though.

It's still going strong as far as I know.

I have a Rockhopper (29er) and a Hoss and i'm fine on both of them. (not that i ride the hoss much anymore). You're a heavy chap though so the Hoss would probably be a safer bet. Both nice frames.
