got some older pre UST Enve rims,
one of them has been drilled out for a schrader valve,
suffering a lot lately with punctures after none for ages,
what would be my best approach to tubeless this rim?
stan's tape, joe's valve
use one of the spacers you get in mavic rims for prest valves or use schrader valves for tubeless?
I had some Jo's Schrader Rim Strips, everything else I have has just gone with yellow tape and a stans valve
I think notubes used to make a valve with a wider base for just such a situation. Failing that, a notubes rubber rim strip would work. There may be other solutions but these are two I've used in the past.
just to add I have 2 rims drilled for schrader running on Stans Valves with just the plastic insert (found in LBS parts pots)
ah ok ill try, the drilled out rim is sleeved at the moment with a rubber grommet,
ill see how it goes
Nowhere near as exotic but I converted my mavic rims with valves cut out of old tubes and the locknut done up really tight.
Roval and Superstar valves also do the trick really nicely
Use cut out valves most of the time anyway, can't see why this wouldn't work for schrader too.
... now your off tubeless can i recommend that you get some proper UST tyres and save yourself some grief regarding sealing with Stans etc
i fitted a pair of Maxxis Ardent UST tyres well over a month ago with the intention of injecting the stans fluid in the very next morning
... i still havnt got round to it and theyre still hard despite riding over a couple of hundred off road miles! 🙂
hi dad 🙂
Schwalbe Schraeder tubes have a threaded outer and locknut, perfect for tubelessing!
I used a rubber cable grommet from an orange five swingarm, perfect fit, then use a stans valve as it fits better with the taper.
drill out the other rim and buy some no flats tubeless schrader valves £10.99 from crc.no need for them stupid fiddly presta valves.dont know anything about drilling carbon though
