Got some new mudguards, Kinesis Fend Offs. They're on a Kinesis fork, fixed with a bolt at the crown and full length struts from the bottom of the fork either side.

Unfortunately when going over rough ground they wobble slightly and buzz the tyre. I can't think how to strengthen/stiffen/stabilise the strut to prevent that, not sure if anything under the crown to hold it better in place would have much effect. Anyone done anything similar?

Unless you want to replace struts, messing with other bits. etc then one thing to try.

the tabs on the mudguard. Bend them out so that they don’t point towards the drop outs.

Bend the stays in an arc and also when they are bolt led to the drop out that want to site naturally outside of the tabs on the guard; so that you have to bend/spring them to meet.

This will get some lateral tension in them and also splay the tabs to get more clearance at the tyre.

also if you have 3 pack mounts on the fork, try moving one stay to the lower pack mount so that the stays are offset.

Seymour Duncan quarter pounders are the usual answer. And put a nice set of 12s on.

Tried a set of these and no matter what I did couldn't get them to shut up. I installed a set of Bontrager NCS - ah, peace, perfect peace.

I've fettled these a bit today, and used bigger washers at the bolt fixing to give a little rigidity. I think it's done something albeit nothing's going to stop the waggle in two long struts.

I'm surprised by this: I have Fend offs on three bikes and none of them rattle. I did drill holes in them to mount directly to the under side of the crown and seatstay bridge.

Bin them, and buy PDW fenders instead. (PDW are allowed to call them fenders, being from Portland.)
