[Closed] How To Remove Stuck Ferrule Please?

Stupid internal cable routing. Trying to replace a cable and the ferrule is stuck. Tried GT85ing it, letting it soak and working at it with a small flat head screwdriver but the ferrule is just getting chewed up instead. Any suggestions on how to get it out please?

Last time this happened it required a friend with an awl to wreck the ferrule and get it out that way. We then had to use a vaccuum cleaner and a threaded needle to get the tube the cable's fed through back into the frame. Would really like to avoid that this time!

Drill would be my suggestion too, if it's plastic it'll go through it easily, if it's metal then it'll usually snag, spin it, and drag it out attached to the drill.

had a very similar problem a few months ago, ferrule got well chewed up with me trying to get it out with a flat blade screwdriver, in the end, a T25 did the job, fit right into the chewed up bugger and had enough purchase to get it out without damaging the frame.

I've got a T25 tool. I've ordered some dentist's picks as well. Let's see how I get on. Wonder if a vacuum cleaner will loan or enough to make it fall out.

Do you mean "bell-end"?

Wife's brakes are due a bleed. I'd probably check my life insurance if I was her. For now, she remains blissfully oblivious.

I DID IT!

Required a set of dentist's picks off eBay (£4.99), detaching the lower rubber stoppy thing and having a go.

Shifter's crunched though. Hopefully SO will sell me his. Damned thing is not staying in gear.
