How do you stop the free hub spinning to undo the sproket?

You hold the sprocket with the whip, insert the lock ring tool into the end of the freehub, undo it with a spanner and slide the sprocket off the freehub.

Ta! Got both the tools but can't figure out where the locking tool engages with the free hub. Do I have to take the axle out?
Yes, take the QR out,
is that a track cog threaded onto a freehub? If so you'll need an old cassette sprocket to thread onto the freehub and a 2nd chain-whip. One to turn the track cog and one to hold the freehub straight.
Next time get a singlespeed sprocket and slide it onto the splines.

It looks like the sprocket is threaded onto the freehub, rather than sliding on the freehub over the splines like a normal one,
The tool normally goes into the end of the freehub, unless it's a different tool for those hubs..
Is that threaded on or slid on? They should be slid on with a track lockring to hold it in place. So if youve managed to remove the lockring it should just slide off.
They're not the same as normal hubs with spacers and a cassette locknut.
Ive got the same hubs.

Might make more sense..
It's a single speed specific wheelset from a salsa bike i picked up 2nd hand.
The free hub splines are threaded and comes with a lock ring.
I did try a non threaded single speed sprockets from my other wheelset but they felt really loose. That's why I thought I'd try the threaded sprocket.
Looks like I've cocked up somewhere!
Does anyone else run this type of hub?
like I said you should have used a normal single speed sprocket and the lockring. Only way thats coming off now is another normal sprocket on the remaining splines and 2 chain whips.
If it was loose you missed out a singlespeed spacer or should be using a wide based sprocket anyway.
