How can I determine which style brake pads will be compatible with my current brakes? I can find information on the composite of the various pads, but I'm unable to find any real info on the differences between the geometries.

I have a cyclocross bike that has cantilever caliper brakes with threaded post. I just need replacement pads; the brakes themselves are still fine. My brakes are Tektro, but they don't say which model they are. I am looking at getting Kool Stop pads, for no particular reason other than they seem to be well regarded. But regardless of brand, it seems like there are many different styles.
How can I tell which will fit in my current brake holders? Which style would be best for a cyclocross bike? I generally ride the bike more like a gravel bike; I don't race competitively, I ride in a mix of rain, gravel, and light mud.

Would I be able to purchase Kool Stop pads, and install them in the Tektro brakes? Or would I need to buy Kool Stop holders if switching to Kool Stop pads?
Would any style pad fit in the holders, or is each style compatible with only a specific holder?
