I've ordered some SLX brakes from Rose, I now need to purchase some rotors. In the past I've just fitted what fits but this time I'm determined to try to eek out the best performance I can.
First thing I need to know is what size I require? It'll be SLX brakes on a RS Secktor and Dialled Alpine. For the life of me I cannot find what I need. And will I get away with a 183 if I need a 180 for instance?
Secondly I've tried to research the different types and models but I'm still bewildered by choice. Ice rotors are overpriced? Floating will sometimes foul the caliper and regular rotors have varying degrees of robustness?
So what are you using and are you happy and maybe more importantly what would you never buy again?
I use whatever, works fine.
Shimano RT76, or RT86 if you're feeling plush. They just work better than any normal all steel rotor I've tried, only squeal a little when wet, stay true, and importantly stay cool. Mine happily managed a trip to the alps without any kind of brake fade or warping. That's paired with the new XT brakes, so they should be perfect for your purpose.
