[Closed] How to carry a phone with no backpack ?

I prefer to ride with no backpack whenever possible.
All my jerseys and jackets have got rear pockets, but I'm always worried that if I carry my phone there and perform an unscheduled dismount, I will roll on to it and damage it.
One jacket has got a small breast pocket. That seems to put the phone out of harm's way, but it's only one jacket.
I could do with some sort of secret agent gun holster type thing that will fit under any jersey.
Does anyone make such a thing ?
How do other people carry a phone without a backpack ?

Tuck it in your bra like a chav girl.

Strap it to the downtube 😉

Or a top tube bag / tri bag? Its handier than a saddlepack if you want to reach the phone while on the bike.

Or a storage bottle.

Tri- pouch on the top tube. Good for snacks too 😉

Ah yeas, the water bottle as a tool kit box. That's a good one too.

Sports armband strapped around the stem. Make sure it's not sticking out anywhere where it'll get knocked in a crash and maybe consider fitting a heavy duty protective case first. Also has the benefit of acting as a cycle computer if you run Strava or similar.

A cheap example, but available in all sorts of sizes 🙂

I've already got a small saddle bag full of levers, hex keys and patches etc.
I'd thought about a frame bag, but wondered if the vibration from a hardtail with the forks locked out might kill a normal phone. It's not built for it like a GPS.

Sports armband looks like exactly what I'm after thanks. I don't know how I've never heard of them before.
I wondered if the strap would be long enough to go round the upper arm or if it's intended to be worn like a watch.

What would you do though if, for example, your bottom bracket failed 20 miles from home and nowhere near a bike shop?

I put mine in my pocket in a sandwich bag. It is only a cheapo pay as you go and I am on my 3rd in as many years so maybe not the best option.

It's surely going to be no safer on an armband than in a jersey pocket. I'm struggling to see why a Tri-bag/Frame bag will be a problem.

I use an Aquapac . On a cord round my neck, inside clothing - out of the way, and doesn't matter if it rains. It fits £10 and a credit card as well.

Surely only an idiot would put an electrical component in exactly the place it'll most likely get covered in water and crap from the front wheel?

Oh..... 🙂

In 20 years of falling off (interspersed with moments of cycling) I've never bashed mine.

For a non-zipped jersey: I put mine inside a sandwich bag (for waterproofing), tuck it into a jersey pocket and usually stuff a Buff on top to stop it jumping out.

Wherever possible I try and use a jersey or jacket with a zipped rear pocket though.

Exactly the same thing I would have done in 1995 before I had a mobile phone.

But in actual fact I wouldn't have been leaving home with a poorly maintained bike....... BBs don't fail inexplicably, they go slowly over a period of a few to lots of rides. 🙂

My iPhone 4 just stays in my shorts pocket, always has done. No case, it really doesn't need it IME.

But yeah, just get a jersey with a zipped rear pocket.

FS, stick it in a pocket in a good plastic bag wrapped with a rubber band.

One of these - has a velcro strap that will go round a belt if you have one?

I stick mine in my back packet. I wrap it in a sock and put it in a plastic sealoc bag. I guess I've been lucky so far.
