Hi

I have a knocking sound coming from the back end of my dmr sled. I have taken the rear shock off and after pulling the bushes out which seem to have been glued in they practically fall out and are very loose.

I assume that these should be quite a tight fit and is the cause of the noise. It happens when I pull up on the toptube. I checked the rear linkage bearings and they all seem fine. The bike is 3m old

Should bushes fall out or am I missing something else. My last bikes I have never had to change inserts so quickly so wanted to see if I was missing something

Cheers

Yep, could well be the DU bushes are worn.

As said, TFT do some heavy duty kits that might be worth looking at.... or just fit some new DU bushes as they are cheap as chips but won't last as long.

That's a short time for the DU bushings to need replacing, but I had a Nukeproof Mega which ate them that quickly.
I'd recommend getting Igus ones to replace, they last much longer IME.
Though they are not the best option if you change hardware often, (eg. for offset bushings or to swap shocks), because they can deform.

Might it be the brass/alu bushes which have worn rather than the DU inserts? The bushes want to be a 'sliding fit' within the DU, so no perceptible sideways play, but no significant resistance to rotation or sliding in and out.

The DU bushes are the sacrificial part in the system, so they wear first.

Still, having spare bushes etc is always a good idea.👍
